THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Mining Technical Services Superintendent, this role will provide support to our already established team with the review and assessment of ground conditions, deliver recommendations on excavation methodology and the appropriate levels of ground stabilisation to ensure a safe and efficient mining environment..

 

This is a permanent full-time role which operates on a 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise a team of Geotechnical Engineers to ensure production related Pit Geotechnical duties are executed in a safe, efficient and timely manner
  • Provide leadership, through coaching, mentoring, and support for professional development activities, to members of the Geotechnical team.
  • Oversee the co-ordination and execution of the PLS Ground Control Management Plan to ensure the identification and management of geotechnical hazards.
  • Design, implement and monitor Geotechnical systems, processes and outcomes to ensure that they support an acceptable risk profile for the business.
  • Providing input to drill and blast design to ensure wall control compliance.
  • Provide input into Geotechnical assessment of open pit and dump designs.
  • Provide geotechnical information to and liaise with other mining and geology personnel to ensure optimal extraction of the ore while conforming with legislated geotechnical requirements.
  • Manage the collection, analysis and reporting of structural pit data and recommend changes where necessary.

 

ABOUT YOU:

 

  • 5 years’ experience within a Geotechnical role.
  • Relevant tertiary degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar.
  • MS Office.
  • WA C class driver’s license.
  • 5 years mining industry experience.
  • Ability to utilise Surpac/Vulcan and other geotechnical software (RocScience)
  • Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to the processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the environment.
