The opportunity
Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Mining Production Superintendent - Haulage position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of material across Pilgangoora's open pit operations, leading a large team of supervisors and operators across multiple FIFO crews to deliver against scheduled production targets. This role sits within the Mining Manager's leadership team and plays a critical part in the operational ramp-up of one of Australia's most significant hard rock lithium operations, requiring close collaboration across drill and blast, loading, mine control, and mobile maintenance functions. The Haulage Superintendent is both a technically capable mining professional and a people leader who sets the standard for safety culture, operational discipline, and team performance across the haulage function.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation in the Pilbara region, which operates on an 8:6, 4:3 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of haulage supervisors and operators across multiple crews, building individual capability and maintaining consistent crew performance standards.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee daily haulage operations to meet production targets, ensuring truck utilisation, payload performance, and cycle times are optimised across all active mining areas.
- Manage fleet deployment in alignment with the short/medium-term mine plan, coordinating with Mine Control and Loading to maximise dig face availability and minimise queue and wait times — and monitor that material movement and stockpiling of ore and waste is being carried out in accordance with mining schedules.
- Monitor operational KPIs in real time using FMS/MineStar data, identifying performance trends and implementing corrective actions to close gaps against schedule — including contribution to daily, weekly, and month-end production reporting.
- Regularly inspect haul roads, waste dumps, ROM stockpiles, and in-pit infrastructure to ensure workplaces are safe, ground conditions are acceptable, and any defects are escalated and rectified promptly.
- Regularly rotated through quarry manager responsibilities and be capable of filling SSE requirements when required.
- Model visible safety leadership in the field, conducting regular interactions with operators and supervisors to reinforce safe behaviours and address at-risk practices in the moment.
- Monitor and manage haulage-related operating costs including tyre consumption, fuel usage, and labour — identifying variances against budget, implementing corrective measures.
- Provide clear, timely reporting to the Mining Manager on haulage performance, emerging risks, and operational priorities, escalating issues with recommended solutions — including input into daily, weekly, and month-end reporting cycles.

- Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to the processes.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
