THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Senior Project Metallurgist, this role is responsible for taking ownership of, and executing, the site metallurgical test work program. The role supports the metallurgy team through the completion of test work and associated reporting, enabling metallurgists to ensure concentrate production and related processing unit operations are controlled in a cost‑effective and efficient manner.
To achieve this, the Metallurgical Technician will actively manage their workload in consultation with metallurgists, ensuring that both routine and ad hoc test work requirements are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
This is a permanent position, with a 8/6 roster based at our Pilgangoora Operation.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The Metallurgical Technician will build key relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Sample preparation (drying, splitting, pulverizing).
- Wet & dry sizing.
- Bench scale flotation test work.
- Online stream analyser inspections and calibrations.
- Processing plant sample collection for improvement projects (routine & ad hoc surveys).
- Ore sorting belt cuts and sample preparation.
- Reagent strength measurement & tracking (soda ash, flocculant etc.).
- Technical report writing & data entry (routine & ad hoc).
- Bench scale HLS test work.
- Metallurgical laboratory administration (stock management & housekeeping).
ABOUT YOU:
- Previous metallurgical laboratory work experience.
- Show a high level of attention to detail, quality, and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Practical, self-motivated approach with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
- Willingness to support both routine and ad hoc metallurgical test work.
- Ability to create effective working relationships in a diverse workforce.
- Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel).
- Current WA Driver’s licence.
