THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Drill Supervisor, this role will assist the Drill Supervisor to ensure the Drilling activities are carried out safely and in accordance with the mine plan.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora operation which operates on a 8/6 ;7/7 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting the Drilling Supervisor, the role requires safe and timely achievement of targeted outcomes by:
- Striving to achieve a positive workplace culture that reflects the Pilbara Purpose.
- Operate Drilling/Ancillary equipment within the shift to ensure optimum productivity in a safe and efficient manner.
- Providing effective supervision support, development and communication to the Drilling Team
- Maintaining compliance with the Drilling Schedule.
- Report on and fix hazards when encountering them to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure the required quality of documentation and completion is achieved for presentation for transfer to records.
- Maintain occupational health and safety standards relevant to operations.
- Ensure occupational health and safety issues are considered in all aspects of duties performed.
- Maintain high standards of performance and adopt a proactive approach to OH&S.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company policies and practices.
- Complete Take-5’s before starting each task or midway through a task if conditions change.
- Ensure all office activities are carried out in compliance with set Standards.
- Monitor performance and quality controls, initiating corrective actions with a particular emphasis on pattern markup/design and drill area preparation.
- Co-ordinates the activities of the drill team and works very closely with the blast team to ensure the safe, timely and effective execution of daily / weekly drilling plans for the achievement of mine production targets. Specific focus areas include day to day plan compliance.
- In the absence of the Drilling Supervisor, be required to perform higher duties and assist the Drill & Blast Superintendent
- Identify, promote and actively participate in the implementation of projects that demonstrates working in an environment of continuous improvement.
- Maintain good working relationships with superiors, peers and all internal as well as external clients, such as contractors, suppliers and service providers.
- Maintain accurate and organized inventories of drilling consumables, including drill bits, rods, and related equipment.
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and coordinate deliveries to ensure uninterrupted drilling operations.
- Perform inspections on drilling consumables to ensure they meet quality standards.
ABOUT YOU:
- HR Licence
- 5 years’ operating experience with drilling and blasting equipment in a large open pit mining operation.
- 1 year’s Senior level experience in a large hard rock drill and blasting operation.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word
