The opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role will lead the Processing Engineering and Planning team and deliver cost-effective, best practice asset management to support safe and efficient operations.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation in the Pilbara region, which operates on an 8:6, 4:3 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and mentor a collaborative team with clear objectives, targets, and strategies.
- Lead maintenance safety performance by ensuring regulatory compliance, enforcing safe work procedures, auditing work areas, and driving a proactive safety culture.
- Provide strong, visible leadership that builds trusted relationships, fosters team cohesion, and develops a high‑performing engineering and planning team.
- Oversee fixed‑plant engineering and maintenance planning to optimise asset reliability, availability, and ensure best‑practice maintenance standards.
- Drive functional excellence by embracing new technologies, applying industry best practice, supporting SME needs, and continually improving key maintenance KPIs.
- Manage the maintenance operating budget and 5‑year capital plan, ensuring accurate procurement processes, cost control, and identification of efficiency opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic improvement initiatives while promoting skills development, succession planning, and a high‑performance team culture.
About you
- Bachelor of Engineering Mechanical/Electrical or trade qualified with post trade higher education relevant to the position
- Schedule 26 / SSE essential
- Leadership qualifications highly regarded
- Significant experience within the mining industry, particularly in fixed plant maintenance
- Previous experience in an operational site management role
- Demonstrated strong and visible leadership skills with an approachable style that enables trust and positive working relationships at all levels
- Exceptional communicator, both verbally & written
- Strong systematic planning and analytical skills
- Knowledge of statutory safety requirements and strong commitment to safety and the environment
