The opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Field Technician, this role will be responsible for assisting the exploration team achieve optimum production with their exploration programs in a manner that enhances safety, culture and performance within Pilbara Minerals.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation in the Pilbara region, which operates on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.
Key responsibilities
- Support daily exploration activities by working closely with the Exploration Team to ensure tasks are planned, coordinated and completed accurately.
- Assist with field administration, including pre-starts, vehicle checks and health and safety reporting.
- Oversee drill site pad preparation and access to exploration areas across site and regional locations.
- Collect, package, record and dispatch samples from RC and diamond drilling programs.
- Complete core processing activities including mark-up, presentation, geotechnical measurements, cutting, sampling, photography and XRF measurements.
- Maintain accurate sample and geological data records, while keeping exploration work areas, storage facilities and vehicles organised, safe and well maintained.
About you
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance, with a proactive approach to working in line with site procedures and reporting requirements.
- Experience recording and processing field or sample data accurately, with good attention to detail and confidence using Microsoft Office.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced exploration environment.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in outdoor conditions, including heat and site-based field environments.
- Practical and hands-on, with sound problem-solving skills and the ability to support a range of exploration and drill program activities.
- Current manual WA driver’s licence required, with prior field assistant or exploration experience highly regarded.
