THE OPPORTUNITY: 

Our Drill fleet is growing and PLS is looking for great people to join the Drill & Blast Team. Reporting to the Drill Supervisor, the position of Drill Operator is responsible for the operation of Drilling & Ancillary equipment as directed in a safe, effective and efficient manner to meet operational requirements of the Mining Production department.

We have multiple NEW opportunities available, operating NEW D65 MKII Drills, on an 8/6 7/7 roster based at our Pilgangoora Operation.

Supporting the Drill Supervisor, these roles require safe and timely achievement of targeted outcomes by:

• Contributing to a positive workplace culture that reflects our Values.
• Operating Drilling/Ancillary equipment to ensure optimum productivity in a safe and efficient manner.
• Contributing to and participating in a flexible and motivated production crew, committed to the achievement of quality production goals.
• Ensuring OH&S issues are considered in all aspects of duties performed.
• Maintaining occupational health and safety (OH&S) standards relevant to operations.
• Maintaining high standards of performance., ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and company policies and procedures.
• Reporting all observed safety incidents and hazards.
• Completing Take-5’s before starting tasks or during tasks if conditions change.
• Performing all tasks in a professional and diligent manner and always treating others with dignity, respect and fairness.
• Maintaining good working relationships with superiors and peers, as well as external clients, such as contractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Assisting Blast crew when required with on-bench activities, Blast hole QA/QC, and Blast guard duties.
• Checking drilling activities are completed correctly and identifying any issues of poor-quality early to ensure re-drills are completed.
• Ensuring accurate hole alignment and spacing to meet blasting requirements.
• Monitoring drilling progress and adjust techniques as necessary to optimise efficiency.

ABOUT YOU:

• 2 years’ operating experience with drilling and blasting equipment in a large open pit mining operation; ideally involving use of D65 drilling units.
• Current HR Driver's Licence.
• Current Dangerous Goods Security Clearance (DGSC), or willing to obtain.
• Self-motivated and disciplined.
• Team-focused with a flexible approach to work
• Sound communication skills.
