The opportunity

Reporting to the Site Services Manager, the Superintendent Concentrate Logistics is responsible for the leadership and performance of the site Concentrate Logistics function.

A key element of the broader Site Services department, the Concentrate Logistics function is responsible for all spodumene and tantalite concentrate logistics from mine to port. This includes intra-site product handling, site stockpile management, blending, bulk road haulage, port stockpile management, and ship-loading.

Through strong leadership, contract management, and cross-functional collaboration, the Superintendent drives safety leadership, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and compliance across all concentrate logistics activities.

This is a permanent full-time role which operates on a 8:6, 4:3 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.

 

Key responsibilities

Leadership & Accountability

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for all concentrate logistics activities across the Pilgangoora Operation and Port Hedland.
  • Lead and develop Supervisors ensuring alignment to operational priorities and standards.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
  • Ensure clear accountability structures and team capability.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Have, or be prepared to obtain, S26 Statutory Supervisor certification
  • Oversee audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure safe systems of work across all concentrate logistics activities.
  • Drive quality field leadership activities within team and contractors
  • Develop, implement, and continuous review of policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Concentrate Logistics

  • Leading a team of site-based employees and embedded contractors, responsible for all site-based concentrate logistics activities including product handling, stockpiling, blending, haulage and port-based activities such as receival, stockpiling, and ship-loading
  • Overall accountability for the performance of the key haulage and ship-loading contractor
  • Responsible for all site and port concentrate logistics facilities and infrastructure such as stockyards and storage facilities
  • Prepare and implement blending strategies, collaborating closely with key site stakeholders such as Processing and Metallurgy, to ensure compliance with customer contract specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare haulage and shipping schedules in collaboration with key corporate stakeholders such as Sales and Shipping
  • Maintain key metallurgical accounting systems, processes, and reporting

Contractor Management

  • Ensure contractor performance meets agreed scope of work, service standards, and KPI expectations.
  • Provide timely logistics plans and forecasts to the haulage and ship-loading contractor to ensure shipping schedules are met
  • In partnership with corporate teams such as Contracts & Procurement, establish contract management frameworks including meeting cadences, reporting, audits, KPI monitoring and performance reviews.
  • Ensure cost control and value delivery across contracts.

Administration and Systems Governance

  • Provide governance as required over metallurgical accounting systems and processes, data integrity, and compliance processes.
  • Ensure accuracy in data entry and reporting
  • Drive standardisation and optimisation of systems processes.
  • Oversee audits and reporting frameworks.

 Operational Planning, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop operational plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Implement reporting systems covering KPIs, service delivery, and costs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across Concentrate Logistics
  • Ensure integration with site operational objectives.

 Stakeholder Engagement & Service Delivery

  • Build strong relationships with operations, corporate, projects, contractors, and leadership teams.
  • Act as escalation point for concentrate logistics issues
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration.

 Financial Management & Cost Control 

  • Own budget accountability for the Concentrate Logistics function
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Monitor expenditure against targets.

 

About you

  • Current C class driver’s license.
  • High efficiency using the full Microsoft Office suite
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience leading large teams in complex operational environments
  • Processing, metallurgy, or bulk logistics experience highly regarded
  • Contractor management experience in a bulk logistics operation
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
