The opportunity
Reporting to the Delivery Lead - Port, this role will provide civil and structural engineering leadership for the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover of Port Inload Shed and associated infrastructure. The role will ensure safe, compliant, constructable and cost-effective delivery in a cyclonic port environment, while coordinating engineering consultants, contractors, Pilbara Ports and internal stakeholders through all project phases.
This is a casual role based at our West Perth office, conveniently located near the City West train station.
Key responsibilities
- Lead civil and structural engineering delivery for the Port Inload Shed and associated infrastructure across design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Coordinate consultants, contractors and internal and external stakeholders to deliver approved scope, schedule, quality, compliance and budget outcomes.
- Review and manage technical deliverables, drawings, specifications, design reviews, RFIs, field changes, non-conformances and as-built documentation.
- Ensure designs and construction activities are safe, compliant, constructable and fit for purpose in a cyclonic port environment, including consideration of durability, corrosion, drainage, foundations and structural interfaces.
- Provide visible safety leadership, support risk reviews and confirm contractor compliance with project HSE plans, statutory obligations, Life Saving Rules and site requirements.
- Prepare clear engineering plans, reports, recommendations and decision papers while supporting procurement, contract administration, cost forecasting, scope control and operational handover.
About you
- Tertiary qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering, with the technical foundation to support complex project delivery from design through to handover.
- Significant civil and structural engineering experience, including senior project engineering responsibility across design and construction phases.
- Demonstrated experience delivering heavy industrial, mining, port or bulk materials handling infrastructure, ideally within a cyclonic or corrosive coastal environment.
- Strong technical capability across structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, foundations, cladding, drainage, pavements, durability and multidisciplinary project interfaces.
- Confident managing consultants, contractors and stakeholders, with sound contract administration, planning, risk management, commercial awareness and communication skills.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental and operational outcomes, with the flexibility to travel regularly to site and hold a current C Class driver licence and White Card.
