The opportunity

Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the Senior Maintenance Engineer is accountable for leading the Reliability, Maintenance and Electrical engineers on site. This role is critical in delivering cost-effective, best-practice asset management to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

This is a permanent full-time role which operates on a 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.

Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrate understanding and awareness of PLS Health, Safety and Environmental policies and ensure all work is carried out in accordance.
  • Ensure that all activities are planned and performed in accordance with PLS Health and Safety polices.
  • Report and escalate any situation, event or incident that has affected or has the potential to harm people or the environment to management.
  • Support procedures and work practices aimed at preventing accidents or injuries and actively participate in PLS Field Safety Interaction program (INX and Forwood).
  • Demonstrate strong and visible felt leadership.
  • Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, lead, and mentor a collaborative team with clear objectives, targets, and strategies.
  • Promote the PLS Asset Management Framework and Maintenance Excellence program to support best practice maintenance.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective maintenance, reliability, and availability of fixed plant assets by managing mechanical, reliability and electrical engineers
  • Ensure delivery of various routine and ad-hoc reports on performance and improvements
  • Encourage team feedback to support improvement initiatives, cost reduction, and efficiency gains.

About you

  • Hold a Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree
  • Solid track record in engineering with a minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical or electrical engineering within a processing plant environment.
  • Demonstrable success in the application of engineering principles and statistical data analysis and implementation of processes.
  • Demonstrate experience with risk assessment, prioritisation and delivery of team actions within the required timeframe.
  • Understanding of common predictive technologies: vibration analysis, lubrication, thermography, motor analysis, ultrasonic, machinery analysis, alignment and balancing procedures, and fixed equipment diagnostic technologies.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis work process methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles; practical statistical analysis skills, including failure statistics, failure rates, hazard rates and life expectancy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the environment.
