THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Safety Advisor is accountable for ensuring the safety and health of employees through the delivery of professional safety services, promotion, and management of the Mine Safety Management System and the delivery in a timely and professional manner in regard to health and safety related matters.
This is a Max-Term (12-Months) position, on a FIFO 8:6 roster from Perth, WA
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain the Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Assist frontline leaders in developing Health and Safety knowledge.
- Review and moderate incidents
- Coaching all workforce on safety management
- Maintain INX database
- Conduct general workplace inspections
- Follow up on actions recorded in INX
- Interface with internal and external parties, such as Contractor Representatives, Shutdowns, Projects Team, LGIRS.
- Coaching Operational leads on Quality Interactions: MCC, CCV, PTO, FI
- Conduct Health and Safety audits
- Facilitate risk assessments
- Support Health and Safety Initiatives and improve safety management processes, such as Investigation Quality Improvements, high-risk certificates, permit to work and hazard reporting
- Coach personnel on safety tools such as Take 5’s, Job Hazard Analysis’, and area inspections.
- Assist in presenting relevant Health and Safety training packages for use across the site.
- Participate in Prestart and Information (PSI) meetings, Health and Safety representative committee (HSRs) meetings and Toolbox meetings.
- Support the implementation of Health and Safety practices and initiatives on site to achieve Health and Safety objectives and targets.
- Facilitate incident investigations, ensuring investigations are completed to a quality that identifies contributing factors and puts corrective actions in place to prevent recurrence.
- Assist in applying and reviewing risk management processes effectively and consistently.
- Attend site inductions as required.
- Prepare health and safety data for various meetings.
- Any other duties as directed by site Health and Safety Superintendent or Health and Safety Ops Manager.
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum Certificate IV Workplace Health & Safety
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in an operational safety role
- Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to the processes.
- Advanced PC skills and computer literacy i.e. Microsoft applications mainly excel/word
- Experience in Incident Investigation (ICAM certification - Essential Factors preferred)
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
- Strong commitment to safety and the environment.
