THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting directly to the Group Manager Digital Technology, the Application System Engineer (Operation & MES) will support the successful management of MES and Operation application and systems, through the provision of system user administration, business analysis, system management and support, including interaction with business users, vendors, and suppliers.
The role focus on the management and support of site based and operations related systems in mining and processing. The role requires a good technical understanding in the operational and MES systems as well as business operation processes and control in a mining environment.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our West Perth office, near the City West train station.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer engagement:
-
- Engage with business, liaise with different parties, and focus on completing analytical work to scope and define systems configuration requirements.
- Understand business requirement, needs and priorities
- Build constructive working relationships with key business stakeholders and vendors to support successful delivery of the project/program.
- Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication.
- Conduct workshops for end-users to enhance their proficiency in utilizing the application or system
Application/System support:

- Provide Level 2 / 3 technical support and system administration to resolve business and technical issues of MES and Operation applications
- Provide Level 2/3 support and advice for reporting systems and short term interval controls in mining and processing.
- Escalate issues as required and based on criticality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze user requirements and improve system functionality.
- Assist in designing, configuring, and implementing technical solutions and systems.
- Diagnose and resolve application-related issues and escalate complex problems to higher-level support when necessary.
- Assist in system upgrades, testing, and implementation of patches and updates.
- Manage and support multiple applications, systems, and technology.
- Participate in identifying and recommending improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the systems.
Accountability:
- Application and system availability
- User application and system access management (SSO and other).
- Conduct Application deployments and transitions, ensuring seamless integration into operations and ongoing support.
- Oversee corporate applications and proactive system monitoring to pre-empt and resolve issues.
- Conduct comprehensive business analysis, from requirement gathering to impact assessment, to ensure technology solutions meet stakeholder needs.
- Support the rollout of systems and contribute to corporate reporting and dashboarding.
- Drive business outcomes through effective team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Governance and Support:
- Maintain application and system knowledge through active engagement with vendors.
- Develop and maintain support documentation, including training materials and knowledge base articles.
- Develop and maintain governance documents in line with relevant document control standards.
Monitoring and Issue Escalation:
- Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and escalate any issues to the IT Technology Application System Engineer for resolution. Proactively address challenges to keep projects on track.
- Assessing project risk and providing solutions wherever applicable
- Escalate issues as required and based on criticality.
ABOUT YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Management, Information Technology or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Manufacture and Execution System Certification
- Database administration experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in delivering and supporting digital solutions, with a preference for experience in the resources sector.
- Hands-on experience across the full application lifecycle, including test script creation and execution.
- Ability to achieve deadlines and milestones to the required standards.
- Ability to perform detailed technical troubleshooting of operational system issues.
- Ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to understand business problems and identify technical solutions.
- Excellent problem and analytical solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent presentation skills.
- Proficiency to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
