The opportunity
Reporting to the Mining Production Supervisor, the position of Ancillary Operator is responsible for operating Track Dozers, as well as other mobile mining machinery such as Wheel Loaders, Graders and Trucks.
As a valued member of PLS and our Mining Production team, you’ll work safely and collaboratively towards delivering targeted production outcomes and offer guidance and direction to your fellow operators.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation in the Pilbara region, which operates on an 8:6, 7:7 (days / nights) FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.
Key responsibilities
- Operating heavy surface mining equipment, primarily CAT D10 Track Dozers, in a hard rock mining production environment.
- Effectively and efficiently maintaining pit floors and tip heads.
- Conducting pre-start safety checks on mobile mining equipment.
- Reporting any hazards and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Working in a collaborative manner with a can-do attitude, following industry best practices.
- Actively contributing to a safe work environment for yourself and team members.
- Assisting with other tasks and operating other machinery as required.
About you
- Experience operating large Mobile Mining Equipment, specifically CAT D10/D11 Track Dozers, in a hard rock production mining environment.
- Experience operating Wheel Loaders (CAT 980/988/992/993), Graders (CAT 16/18/24M, and Trucks (CAT 785/789/793).
- Experience with mining production Excavators (or the desire to learn & upskill) highly regarded.
- A flexible approach to work, including operating other mobile machinery.
- A strong focus on safety and best practices within the mining industry.
- The ability to work 12.5-hour shifts, including nights.
- A current WA C-class manual driver’s licence: HR preferred.
